Offline issues are found in both Windows and Mac computers. The following are the methods to fix them.
For Windows computers :
1. Connectivity issues :
This can be fixed by downloading and running HP print and scan doctor. The file automatically installs after being downloaded on the computer. Following which, responding to the on-screen message should resolve this issue.
2. Default printer :
A Driver change might trigger this issue. Change default driver to printer driver to rectify this issue.
3. Connection status error :
The printer needs to be reset forcibly by removing the power cord when the printer is turned on. Push the power cord back to the computer at least after a delay of 60 seconds. The Power button might require being pressed to turn it on.
4. Correct port :
Make sure the correct port is selected. This can be achieved by choosing the right driver from devices and printers from the control panel.
5. Firmware update :
This error can be fixed by keeping the printer firmware up to date by having the latest driver software installed.
6. Manual connection :
To check the connectivity of the printer with the computer, manual connections are prefered over wireless ones. The manual IP address is found and typed in the firmware settings of the respective printer driver in the computer.
7. Adding the second printer :
When a second printer is not properly added, it might interfere with the working of both the printers. This can be rightly done by carefully selecting the second printer from devices and printer and manually entering the printer’s IP address.
The same can be done with HP Printer Assistant. Select the HP Printer Assistant--> printer properties. Under that , click the ports tab and select standard port. The second printer should be displayed in the list of devices.
8. Other solutions :
1. Moving the computer closer to the wireless printer.
2. Connecting the printer to another computer.
3. Disabling Ipv6 for printers that have control panel with a display.
For Mac computers :
1. Connection issue :
Checking the connection between the computer and the printer.
1. USB printer connection :
Disconnect the USB cable from the printer and connect it back after an interval of 5 seconds and make sure that the connection is secure. Ensure that the small end of the USB cable is connected to the rear of printer and the larger end of the USB to the computer.
2. Network printer connection :
Restart your printer and router. Check for printers on the list of devices and selecting the respective printer will resolve this issue.
2. Printer reset :
Mac is switched on. Power cord is unplugged from the wall socket and reconnected after a period of 60 seconds. Printer is forcibly turned off by pressingthe power button incase it fails to turn off upon removal of power cord.
3. Printer list refresh :
Remove multiple printers from the print list other than having a single idle printer. This is done by selecting the one idle printer as the default printer from the printers & scanners list.
4. Print queue reset :
The existing print queue is deleted and and added again effectively. Mac is connected to internet in this process. (-) and (+) utilized for removing and adding printers respectively. The Printer should be present in idle status when performed correctly.
5. Printer system reset :
The Printer system is reset by going to printers & scanners, right clicking and selecting the reset print system. The Administrator password is required for this step. Please understand that doing so will delete all devices in the print queue.
6. Other solutions :
Connecting the printer to another system and not connecting to a host/ guest system should work as well.
